Gamecock women’s soccer standouts Savannah McCaskill and Grace Fisk have been selected as semifinalists for the 2017 MAC Hermann Trophy, the United Soccer Coaches announced Tuesday afternoon. South Carolina was one of four schools to boast two semifinalists for the annual honor that recognizes the top player in women’s college soccer.

South Carolina women’s soccer earned United Soccer Coaches South Regional Coaching Staff of the Year honors, the organization announced Tuesday evening. The accolade marks the second-straight United Soccer Coaches Regional Award for head coach Shelley Smith and Carolina, which received the accolade in 2009 and 2011 before garnering the honor again last fall.

Freshman forward Luciana Zullo tallied a goal in the 39th minute to lift top-seeded South Carolina women’s soccer to a 1-0 victory over Wisconsin in the second round of the NCAA Tournament Friday night at Stone Stadium. The Gamecocks punched the program’s fourth ticket to the NCAA Sweet 16 and improved to 17-2-1 on the year with the win over the Badgers.
