Arike Ogunbowale scored 23 points, Jackie Young added 22 and No. 6 Notre Dame beat No. 3 South Carolina 92-85 on Sunday night to take the Gulf Coast Showcase championship and snap the defending national champion Gamecocks' 17-game winning streak. Marina Mabrey scored 12 points and Jessica Shepard had 10 for the Irish (6-0), They trailed by 12 points early in the second quarter and then went on a 37-12 run over the next 14 minutes. A'ja Wilson had a career-best 34 points for South Carolina (6-1), which hadn't lost since Feb. 19. Alexis Jennings and Doniyah Cliney each scored 12 points for the Gamecocks.

Alexis Jennings scored 25 points, A'ja Wilson scored 17 and No. 3 South Carolina held on to beat St. John's 76-58 on Saturday in the semifinals of the Gulf Coast Showcase. Wilson also grabbed 17 rebounds for the Gamecocks (6-0), who won their 17th straight game going back to last season. The win means South Carolina coach Dawn Staley will go for career victory No. 400 on Sunday night, when the Gamecocks play for the tournament title against either No. 6 Notre Dame or No. 17 South Florida.

A'ja Wilson had a confession after the game: Yes, No. 3 South Carolina was a bit rattled at times by Rutgers. It didn't show. Wilson scored a career-high 33 points, Lindsey Spann added 17 and South Carolina survived a serious test before beating Rutgers 78-68 on Friday in the quarterfinals of the Gulf Coast Showcase. ''That's something I kept telling my teammates in the huddle, just keep our composure,'' Wilson said. ''Don't let them shake us too much.'' Shaken, they were. Defeated, not yet, and not for a while. The reigning national champion Gamecocks (5-0) shot 64 percent in the fourth quarter, 54 percent for the game and extended their winning streak that started last season to 16 games.

No. 3/2 South Carolina travels to Estero, Fla., for the Gulf Coast Showcase this weekend. The Gamecocks open the eight-team event at Germain Arena on Fri., Nov. 24, at 1:30 p.m. against Rutgers. Two other nationally ranked teams are in the field as potential Sunday opponents for the Gamecocks – No. 6/6 Notre Dame and No. 17/16 USF.

A'ja Wilson kept her double-double streak going with 16 points and 13 rebounds to lead No. 4 South Carolina to a 94-60 win over Wofford on Sunday. It looked early like the senior all-American might have her first game this season without at least 10 points and 10 boards, but she and the Gamecocks (4-0) shook off a slow start. In the first three games, South Carolina had only trailed for 1:32. But the Terriers (1-2) came out shooting hot and led for more than eight of the game's first 15 minutes

Lindsey Spann made six of seven 3-pointers and scored 20 points in No. 4. South Carolina's 66-36 victory over Clemson on Thursday night. Spann's outside accuracy freed up defending national champion South Carolina (3-0) in the paint. A'ja Wilson scored 19 points and had 11 rebounds, her third double-double in three games. Clemson's 36 points were the lowest ever by a team in the rivalry's 63 games. The previous low was South Carolina's 40 points in 1990. Clemson (2-1) gave its fans brief hope, taking a 4-2 lead just over two minutes in, leading to a timeout by Gamecocks coach Dawn Staley after her team had two of its first five shots blocked.

South Carolina women's basketball released today the dates for their Chalk Talk presented by AllSouth Federal Credit Union series. Open to season-ticket holders, the pre-game events will feature various guest speakers in addition to one of the Gamecocks' assistant coaches breaking down that day's game.
