No. 3 South Carolina women’s soccer plays host to High Point this weekend on Sun. Aug. 27. Kickoff from Stone Stadium is set for 7 p.m. ET, and Sunday’s contest will mark the second all-time meeting between the two schools. The Gamecocks topped the Panthers 2-0 at home during the 2014 season.

South Carolina opened its 2017 season with a 2-1 victory over USC Upstate on Friday night. A huge crowd of 5,048 fans packed Stone Stadium for the season opener. Sophomore striker Luca Mayr (65') and true freshman midfielder Petter Soelberg (30') each tallied goals for the Gamecocks.

The South Carolina volleyball team started the 2017 season with a memorable performance Friday night against Mercer. The Gamecocks swept the bears, 25-17, 26-24, 25-19 to move to 1-0, and hit .400 as a team for the match. Freshman Mikayla Robinson had a historically efficient night, hitting .846 with 12 kills to lead the offense.

Reigning National Champion South Carolina will play in the 2017 Gulf Coast Showcase (Nov. 24-26) at Germain Arena in Naples, Fla., the event organizers announced today. The Gamecocks are one of three 2017 NCAA Tournament participants in the eight-team field that includes ETSU, Notre Dame, Rutgers, St. John’s, USF, Washington State and Western Michigan.

Academics. Recipients of 2017-18 Endowed Scholarships Announced

University of South Carolina Athletics announced today the recipients of nine endowed scholarships across five sports. Seven of the nine have appeared on the SEC Academic Honor Roll at least once, with three capturing All-America recognition at least once in their careers. Recipients for endowed scholarships are selected each year by the sport’s head coach.
