General News. Carolina Band Set for Dancing with the Stars Halftime Show

The Carolina Band, in collaboration with the USC Department of Theater and Dance and the Department of Athletics, is putting the finishing touches on a “Dancing with the Stars” halftime show this week, which it will debut at halftime of Saturday’s football game against Louisiana Tech. Four local stars are paired with USC Dance Company members and will each perform on a dance floor set up on the field at Williams-Brice Stadium with the crowd invited to vote for a winner.

South Carolina (4-3-0, 0-2-0 C-USA) handed No. 13 Furman (6-1-0, 0-0-0 SoCon) its first loss of the season on Tuesday night in front of 3,049 fans at Stone Stadium. Sophomore striker Luca Mayr netted the game-winner in the 50th minute after a gorgeous through ball from senior Christoffer Wallander Ianev.

After helping lead South Carolina to the 2017 NCAA National Championship, guard Allisha Gray propelled her Dallas Wings into the playoffs and capped her season with WNBA Rookie of the Year honors, the league office announced today. The award made it unanimous as the Associated Press also bestowed that honor on Gray earlier this month.
