M. Basketball. Redbirds beat Gamecocks 69-65 in Puerto Rico Tip-Off

Milik Yarbrough had 18 points, six rebounds and six assists to help Illinois State beat South Carolina 69-65 in Thursday's opening game of the relocated Puerto Rico Tip-Off. Keyshawn Evans added 17 points for the Redbirds (1-1), who frustrated the cold-shooting Gamecocks with their active zone defense and never trailed. Illinois State shot just 36 percent, but made 28 free throws - with 14 from Yarbrough. Illinois State led by as many as 12 points before halftime and saw the Gamecocks rally to twice tie it before holding on down the stretch. Evans hit a free throw with 4 seconds left to make it a two-possession game and seal the win.

South Carolina men’s tennis head coach Josh Goffi added four signees this week in Joseph Brailovsky, Nick Watson, Jacob Beasley and Patrick Cacciatore, who will all join the Gamecocks’ program for the 2018-19 season.

W. Volleyball. Shields Named to Academic All-District Team

Sophomore right side hitter Mikayla Shields was named to the 2017 College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District Team Thursday afternoon. The teams recognize the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom.

W. Basketball. Women’s Basketball Releases 2017-18 Chalk Talk Dates

South Carolina women's basketball released today the dates for their Chalk Talk presented by AllSouth Federal Credit Union series. Open to season-ticket holders, the pre-game events will feature various guest speakers in addition to one of the Gamecocks' assistant coaches breaking down that day's game.

W. Volleyball. Gamecock Volleyball Hosts Alabama for Alumni Night Friday

The South Carolina volleyball team begins its penultimate weekend of the season on Friday night, hosting Alabama at 7 p.m. for Alumni Night. Gamecock greats from years past will be honored before the match. To close out the weekend, Carolina travels out to Texas A&M for a noon first serve with the Aggies.

In their latest Division I Men’s National Singles Rankings, Oracle and the Intercollegiate Tennis Association placed four Gamecock men in the top 125. Francisco Cerunodolo, Yancy Dennis, Gabriel Friedrich and Thomas Mayronne each earned spots in the rankings after strong performances in the 2017 fall season.

Baseball. Baseball to Face Tar Heels in Charlotte in 2018 & ‘19

South Carolina women’s tennis has two singles and two doubles tandems ranked in the latest Oracle ITA Collegiate Tennis Division I National Singles and Doubles Rankings on Wednesday. Megan Davies and Hadley Berg earned a ranking in singles, while the pairs of Davies and Silvia Chinellato as well as Berg and Rachel Rohrabacher are ranked in doubles.
