University of South Carolina junior kick returner Deebo Samuel has been named the SEC Special Teams Player of the Week, the conference office announced today. It is the second week in a row that Samuel has earned that honor.

M. Golf. Carolina takes eighth at Carpet Capital after strong final round

South Carolina had a strong finish at the Carpet Capital Collegiate on Sunday, shooting a final round 283 (-5) to finish eighth in the loaded 15-team field. The Gamecocks third round tally was their best of the tournament.

South Carolina (3-2-0, 0-1-0 C-USA) dropped a 2-1 heartbreaker in overtime to FAU (1-3-0, 1-0-0 C-USA) in its Conference USA opener on Saturday night at Stone Stadium. The Gamecocks tied the match in the 77th minute on a goal by freshman Justin Sukow, but the Owls were able to net the game-winner in the 98th minute.

W. Volleyball. Volleyball Drops Five-Set Match With Radford

South Carolina’s volleyball team dropped its second five-set match in a 24-hour span, as it lost to Radford (8-1) Saturday afternoon in the finale of the Carolina Classic. The loss drops the Gamecocks back to 5-4 this season.

The Gamecock volleyball team dropped a five-set to Miami (Ohio) on Friday night, 25-21, 20-25, 25-15, 22-25, 11-15. The Redhawks improve to 6-4, while Carolina stand at 5-3 this season. Mikayla Shields and Aubrey Ezell each had career nights, with Shield hitting .431 with 26 kills and Ezell digging 22 balls and adding six service aces.

Sophomore striker Elexa Bahr's first-half goal lifted No. 7 South Carolina women's soccer to a 1-0 victory over No. 4 Clemson in Friday night's top-10 battle at Riggs Field. The win earned the Gamecocks a point in the Palmetto Series and improved Carolina's record to 6-1-0, while the Tigers (6-1-0) suffered their first loss of the season following the setback.
