Freshman forward Ryan Gareis netted the game-winner in the 102nd minute to lift No. 11 South Carolina women's soccer to a dramatic 1-0 victory over Notre Dame Friday night at Alumni Stadium. The result marked the first road victory of the season for the Gamecocks, who improved to 4-1-0 overall following the win.

South Carolina (2-1-0) was handed its first loss of the 2017 season on Friday night by No. 5 Clemson (3-0-0), 4-1. Sophomore Luca Mayr tallied the lone sore for the Gamecocks and senior Christoffer Wallander Ianev record his first assist of the season on the play.

Inconsistent offense plagued the South Carolina Gamecock volleyball team Friday, as it dropped both matches to start the Duke Invitational. In the first match, the team lost to Northwestern, 3-1 (25-13, 18-25, 18-25, 19-25). It closed the day with a 3-1 loss to UNCW (25-17, 21-25, 21-25, 26-28). The team is now 3-2 this season.
